Summer 2025

The past few summers have been quite eventful. I decided to pursue a master's degree in computer science in 2024 and moved to the west. And this summer was no different.

Interning at Boundary

In the pursuit of finding something interesting to work over the summer, I reached out to Aaron on Twitter after seeing his tweet about working on a new programming language for AI whose compiler was written in Rust. Since I was also working on a toy interpreter in Rust, I thought I would be a great fit and would be able to contribute to the project.

I was fortunate enough to get an internship at Boundary in Seattle. I worked on the runtime, parser and the compiler for the programming language called BAML! All my contributions are open source and if you're interested in the details, you can find them here.

Apart from the technical learnings, I had a blast working with all the smart people at Boundary.

West coast

Seattle was my first big american city experience. Initially, it rained a lot and the weather was not very pleasant. But after a few days, the weather improved and I was able to go on a lot of hikes(yes I visited the famous Mount Rainier) and explore the city. I tried paddle boarding for the first time and also jumped in Lake Washington and it was amazing! Then I visited San Francisco, CA to visit some friends. Visiting San Francisco and the Bay Area was inspiring since I got to see the famous Computer History Museum, Stanford University and those huge tech company billboards. The drive along the Pacific coast one of the most beautiful drives I've ever been on and not to forget the Weeknd's concert in Santa Clara! I think the concert was the best night out I've had in a long time and made me realize that life is short and I got to experience it to the fullest!

Back to Blacksburg(via New York)

After the internship, I spent a week in New York City with some friends. I visited the Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis Island Immigration Museum. I also went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art which was just breathtaking! It was great to catch up with old friends with whom I played a lot of football during college. I took a train from New York to Blacksburg which was also my first train experience in the US.
